Searching for Visits

Visits are some of the most important records in your Trac System, as they record the history of all of your students’ past attendance. This means that knowing how to search for visits is also important for reviewing notes, reporting, or simply following up with a student. Visit records can be found in Attendance > Attendance Listing.

NavSearch is the search bar that always appears at the top of listings, and it’s the most commonly used for quick searches. You can search directly for a student name or center, or you can right-click this menu to view more selectable options. Additional formatting can be used to further narrow down results, like the date range shown below.

Multiple searches can also be used at the same time. Just make sure to quote protect your searches like in the screenshot below.

Within the hamburger menu in the top-left, you’ll also find the standard Search tool. This provides a simple interface to search for visits by name, ID, center, etc.

Also within the hamburger menu, you can find Power Search. This can be used to string together multiple more complex searches. You can also save these searches for later use or to share with other staff. Additional symbols can also be used, such as % (wildcard) or | (“or” operator). This means you could perform a search like: Reason: %Homework|Prep Test Help, which would return all visits with a reason of “Prep Test Help” or reasons that end with the word “Homework.”
