Announcements

Announcements are a great way of letting users in the system know about certain events directly from their dashboard as they sign in, but did you know that if you have an announcement set up for students, you can also have them appear on your kiosks where students log in?

Let’s say for example that I want to let all students logging in know that the center is going to be closed for a couple days for some maintenance. If we go to Other > Other Options > Announcements, you can then create a new announcement from the hamburger menu (File:Hamburger.png) and mark it as being directed to students. When you do that, two additional options will appear, Show on Dashboard and Show on Kiosk.

Selecting the option to 'Show on the Dashboard' will display your announcement at the top of the main menu for whoever you have selected to see your new announcement, and 'Show on Kiosk' will then have that announcement display for all of your kiosks when students are logging into the center. Additionally, you can set a start and end date to only have that announcement be displayed for a date range that you specify and afterwards disappear from the dashboard and kiosk.
